A Noble Radiance
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Penguin USA (Mm) (September, 2003)
Author: Donna Leon
Average review score:

A standout in a very good series
I have not listened to the audio version, but the book is very, very good. It is the seventh novel in the series of (currently) twelve starring the Venetian detective Guido Brunetti. As a mystery it works quite well on its own: a body unexpectedly discovered on an abandoned farm in the Dolomites is identified as the scion of a noble Venetian family whose kidnapping had never been solved, and Brunetti must struggle to determine the identities and motives of those responsible before they claim another life. What readers of the previous books in the series will particularly appreciate, however, is the subtle mystery Brunetti finds himself facing within his own family. The solutions to the Comissario's personal and professional challenges are ultimately intertwined in a conclusion which does not represent perfect justice (as is typical in Ms. Leon's novels) but is nevertheless extremely moving. Because Brunetti's relationships with his wife and growing children broaden and deepen over the course of the series, I would recommend that readers start with "Death at La Fenice" if possible, and enjoy the first six books in eager anticipation of this one.

On the Art of Building in Ten Books
Published in Paperback by MIT Press (01 July, 1991)
Authors: Leon Battista Alberti, Joseph Rykwert, Neil Leach, and Robert Tavernor
Average review score:

A must have Volume for any Architect or Town Planner.
The Ten Books of Architecture by Alberti, is one of the finest texts for the education of an Architect or Town Planner. Alberti's ideas are studied at almost very Architecture Program in the world. The Ten Books of Architecture describe how to design successfully, and how to design towns that are safe. Alberti expands on the work of Vitruvius. I would recommend this book for anyone who has an intrest in design. The text is very simple to understand. After reading these books, one will have a much clearer understanding of design.

An outstanding book full of history and ancient gold lore.
Too bad it's out of print, I'd love a copy! I read this book 20 years ago and cannot find a copy. I highly reccommend it for it's intense mystery and the lure of a treasure hunt. Steeped in the early history of the desert southwest. It is an excellent read!

Pat Garrett: The Story of a Western Lawman

Average review score:

Complete story of Sheriff Pat Garrett, famous American lawma
Metz 's thoroughly researched and well written biography details the controversial life of one of the Old West's most interesting characters, Pat Garrett - the lawman who shot and killed Billy the Kid. The story takes Garrett from his Southern childhood, to his days as a buffalo hunter on the Texas frontier, thru his tenure as a federal lawman and Sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico. Metz addresses the mysterious death of Garrett . It was in that position that he became embroiled in the infamous Lincoln County War. The book also provides in-depth coverage of Henry McCarty - alias Billy the Kid. Thoroughly researched and entertainingly written, Metz's story of Pat Garrett will stand as the standard resource work on this noteworthy Old West character. James P. O'Connor - Nov. '9

Poetry the Write Way: Webstatic - First Journey
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (September, 2000)
Authors: Leon Schlossberg and Sondra Schlossberg
Average review score:

Poetry for everyone with a warm heart
I've never enjoyed reading an anthology of poetry as much as this one. Every selection is a true gem, written by authors who caress your spirit with images and feelings that take you through the entire gamut of human emotions. The editors, Sondra and Leon Schlossberg, show a natural talent for finding and featuring writers who are easy to understand, sincere with their feelings, honest and clear in their presentation, and contemporary. This is the first poetry anthology I've read that made me want to slow down and read many of the poems more than once. I can't remember finding so many genuinely good selections of poetry in one book. Most of the writers seemed to be speaking directly to me as if they were exposing my own soul. The most endearing quality of this book is simplicity. Readers won't have to strain attempting to find hidden meanings or words between the lines. This book can be enjoyed instead of being studied. My curiosity aroused after reading this book, I visited the Webstatic.com Internet site and discovered more incredible writers. I can only hope that there is another Webstatic anthology from Sondra and Leon.

Political Ideologies
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall (August, 1993)
Author: Leon P. Baradat
Average review score:

Still the must-have book for anyone who votes
This has to be the one college textbook (the 7th edition, really) that I read over and over again. The logic in how Baradat approaches the origin of political thought and brings it into the present balances itself with an easy-to-read engaging prose. It gives a survey of the great thinkers all over the spectrum, including anarchists, conservatives, liberals, radicals, communists, socialists, and fascists.

In today's society, I have found that most people are misinformed about the meaning of conservatism and liberalism because they get their concepts through the media. This book aggressively dispels all the myths fabricated by the AM radio conservatives and the politically-correct totalitarians.
